Mets 5 Braves 2

It was a good game, probably because the team we were routing for won?! (I only get caught up in the moment while at the ballpark ... I never sit and watch a game on t.v. -- how boring)

A few pics from the evening....

And, here's a sight you don't see at a ballfield very often:

I've procrastinated long enough. Company coming this weekend. I've GOT to get this house in order. Not that I go entirely crazy (some may find that hard to believe) ... I've learned that people are either going to be comfortable in my home the way it is, or too bad.

BUT, the piles of mail and magazines waiting for my husband to go through have to disappear. That just makes it so messy. Not that there's anything he can do about it ... he's not here during the week and it piles up.

It's hard for me to look at this area as a vacation spot. We live and work here ... that doesn't leave much time for fun things. It's a good thing I work with a bunch of Atlanta natives ... they've given me a long list of places of interest. The bad part is no one will want to do the things I want ... well, Anita will, but our husbands won't! Who do you think will win?? Actually, there's no debate on that one... they are making this trip to coincide with the NY Mets playing the Atlanta Braves. Any of you baseball fans?? Well, let me clue you in.... there is a huge rivalry between these two teams. I mean, it's BAD. Braves fans are NOT friendly. So, this is going to be very interesting. What we women do for our men!! (...hhhmmmm, maybe we can sneak away and shop???)

Well, I've got to step it up and get this place in decent shape!

I've been tagged by Yvonne (thanks, Yvonne!) .... here are my weird habits...

1. I turn down the radio before I turn off my car.

2. I wipe the top of my soda can before opening it.

3. I flip the visor up and click it before getting out of my car.

4. I close closet doors and drawers that my husband leaves slightly ajar.

5. I sometimes sleep on my husband's side of the bed when he is away. (aawww......)

I'm sure I've got weirder habits than that, but not being able to think of them might be a subconscious thing ... because I don't want anyone to know about them (maybe???)

Dream home(?) ...maybe...in a different setting

I drive by several new developments evey day and have watched this house under construction with particular interest. Why, you ask? Well, first of all, it's hard to miss ... it's practically on top of the road. I don't understand how these developers get away with (a) building homes on top of each other and (b) building so close to the road. But, when the demand is there, of course they're going to cram as many houses in as they can.

I think the front of this house has great character. I will admit, it looks better at an angle, looking up from the main road.... I pulled in and took this pic almost dead on, which doesn't do it as much justice.

I have not been inside to see the layout -- it may be horrible -- but it doesn't matter in the least since I'm not house hunting. The back of the house is what I really like. Too bad it's on top of a road - with only 5 feet of backyard and a view of a house through those spectacular, huge bowed windows.

Can you imagine this house overlooking a lake, the ocean, or on a mountainside? Wow. It would be ideal.

Tornadoes

The siren woke us at around 3am. I turned on the t.v. to learn we had a tornado warning until 4:30am. Right after I caught the warning, the power went out. So, we grabbed a radio, lit some candles, and waited.

We had strong winds and heavy rain, but that's about it in our area. We went back to sleep and woke up twice to the house shaking, but that was due to really fierce thunder.

Part of our fence was damaged, but I can hardly complain when I see the huge trees that crashed through peoples' homes. Four tornadoes have been confirmed (two of them in our county) ... and there is a possibility that more tornado touchdowns will be confirmed. While they've "only" been categorized F0 and F1, the damage is still devastating.

It's funny, I don't remember hearing about tornadoes being prevalent in Georgia .... but, apparently, they are. Honestly, I may have thought twice about moving here, had I known. We had a tornado touch down so close to my house in Indiana that, had I been looking out my front window instead of the back window, I would have seen the funnel. So, clearly, I would not have wanted to move to another location where tornadoes make their mark --- or I would have at least insisted we buy a house with a basement.

What a weird start to the day. Big thunderstorms rolled through early this morning. The same storms that wreaked havoc (tornado damage) to the west of us. At 6am, it was really dark and thundering and lightening and raining pretty good. The weather reports called for storms throughout the day and, yes, tornado warnings.

So what happened? When I left work for lunch, the skies were blue, the sun was shining brightly, and it was HOT. Really strange, and VERY hard to return to the office! :o)

Simpler Times

I caught a few minutes of a movie that I've seen before. The title is insignificant to this post. The segment that I saw, however, is significant. It showed kids on a ferris wheel at a town carnival.

It's amazing the memories one has trapped inside and what will trigger them. How is that possible? What else is in this head of mine? Loads and loads and loads of forgotten things, I bet.

There were three carnivals that I would attend faithfully every year. All three opened after a firemen's parade. This part is fuzzy, but I think Kat started the first Wednesday in June, SS was the first Wednesday in August, and I haven't the foggiest when the third one (Bed) was.

I know I must have attended all of them as a small child with my family, but the memories I have are when I was older and able to go with my friends. A sprinkling of memories, but they make me smile just the same.

And, yes, Sylvia, one of them is the time we went with Brian and Bruce. You were always getting me into "predicaments." I think you enjoyed that. lol

Rainy, dreary Saturday

Actually, that's a good thing. Now maybe I'll get much needed stuff done in the house. Catch up on paperwork, housecleaning, organizing, etc.

Hubby caught an earlier flight home yesterday. When I got home from work, he was complaining that there was no food. Not even enough mayonnaise for a tunafish sandwich. Oh, what a baby. And, there was to enough mayo! Give me a break.

So, add a long trip to the grocery store to stock the pantry (which is full enough already, although one would argue that point).... and you can be sure I'll buy two jars of mayo. lol

And, bummer, looks like planting shrubs will have to wait for another (dry) day!
