I used to be so organized. I mean ridiculously, painfully organized. I used to have everything in its place. I don't know what happened. Actually, I do know. Too many moves. Packing up just to unpack and find a place for everything all over again.

We have been in this house 2 1/2 years and there are still things to be done. Maybe I shouldn't even be admitting this. I should probably be embarrassed.

In my defense (even though I know I don't have to defend myself to my true blogger friends...) this house is quite different from our last house. Different sized and shaped windows, requiring new drapery in most cases. That is all finally taken care of and all windows are properly dressed. hee hee

Now I'm tackling what to do with my pictures/paintings. The wall space is different than my last house as well, so all my wall hangings don't quite fit (either too big or way too small for the wall space). I don't want to have to buy new stuff, so I'm trying to figure out a way for it to work, but it's hard!!

I'm almost there though, and then all of the decorating will finally be done. I hate to think it, but it will probably be done just in time for us to start thinking about moving again ..... just because that is the way my luck runs.

This plaque was given to me by good friends as a housewarming gift back in CT. It is typically the first thing that gets hung in my kitchen. I miss my friends back in CT. What is it about that "first set" of friends you make as a couple? Are the friendships stronger because you're all experiencing the same things at that time in your life?

I don't really know anyone in this neighborhood. They're all really just acquaintances. We keep saying we'll invite everyone to a barbecue during the summer or a winter party between Christmas and New Year's -- the way we did in CT -- but we never do.

Who knows, maybe this summer will be different. Maybe this will be the summer we finally have everyone over. In that case, I think I better get this stuff up on the walls!!!

P.S. I never did find my '07 calendar, so I bought another one. No biggee, it cost $1.00.

new neighborhoods are tough -- I have neighbors down two houses that have been there five years - and I still don't know their names.

But I do know the ones around me.

Hey... I'm not going to tell you how long we've lived here (28 years) but I still don't have a cover on my fireplace. Of course we don't use it... but we might if it had a cover
