Well, we survived our visitors. I have to be honest... I don't believe he remembered his son's birthday. Someone else brought it up and then he jumped in with a big birthday wish. I would love to give this man the benefit of the doubt, but there is a lot of baggage there. I'd like to think that he came for his son, but I must say I believe he did it for himself. To feel good about himself and to look good in front of family members. But what I believe doesn't really matter. I support my husband and tolerated what I had to -- with a smile I might add, but I can tell you for certain my husband does not feel the overall visit or anything he said while here was genuine. Hey, it's true what they say ... "You can pick your friends, but you can't pick your family." I am grateful for the terrific people in our life because, to him, they are more like family members than most of his real family.

Hubby left today for Boston. He'll be there all week and then head to CT where he'll meet up with his cousin. They'll go to the Dover, DE race (NASCAR) on Sunday .... an annual trip. So, I'm single through the weekend, but that's okay because he flies back on Monday and -- so far -- will be home the remainder of the week and that will be nice.

I start a new job tomorrow... not without trepidation. We'll see how it goes. I can only give it a shot and see what happens. One uplifting experience was the heart-to-hearts I had with my former clients when informing them I was leaving that job. I found out they really respect my work and appreciated all I did for them. That was a nice validation, since I know most of my clients are not pleased with the company as a whole (I was told confidentially by two of my clients that they are not renewing their contracts and are leaving in the coming months). One of my clients went so far as to give me a contact name in her company to send my resume! Wow! I plan on sending it in. I don't know if anything will come of it, but I recognize I have to follow through with it. A giant step for me, since I wouldn't have done this before when already committed to another job, but I finally realize I have to look out for my best interest, as employers are in it for their best interest!

I need to turn off "Last Comic Standing" and fill out the paperwork that I'm required to bring in on the first day tomorrow! So.... bye!
